The future of solar is solid. Year after year more and more individuals such as yourself are making the move to to solar, and taking advantage of harnessing the solar systems reusable energy source. That’s fantastic and amazing, the question is what is corporate america doing. What about big business? Specifically, what about home away from home. Solar powered hotels, is that even a thing?
Solar Powered Hotels
The unfortunate part is pretty surprising, there are very few Solar powered hotels in existence. As a matter of fact there happens to be only 1, dynamic 5 star resort that is 100% Solar…. Finolhu Villas in the The Maldives. A 13 acre luxury resort with, solar panels installed as part of the efficient architecture. Hotels like this are not only being created, but are much more in demand. As said before though, the unfortunate part is that they are few and far between.
Even in the middle east where sun is plentiful and solar is an obvious choice, the Jordan Valley Marriot, happens to be one of the only solar hotels (solar powered water heater) available. So why are though so few hotels that take advantage of reusable unlimited energy? It makes sense, hotels and the sun have always gone together. The bottom line is that many hotels are franchised, and even the once that are corporate owned are not quick to change. It seems only the hotels that are designed from the ground floor up are candidates for solar power. The bottom line is, hoteliers generally have to be pushed in the right direction like many other industries before they even think of taking the steps towards an installation large enough to power an average hotel with 600 plus rooms consuming over $2,500 worth of energy per year each! Seems like a no brainer to us, yet it always has.
