How does the CPS solar rebate work in San Antonio?
The utility company in San Antonio, CPS Utilities, offers a rebate to homeowners installing solar power on their house at a current rate of $.60 per watt.
This rebate is only available to homeowners who purchase their system, not to those leasing from a third party.
According to the CPS website “CPS Energy has allocated additional $15M in solar rebates starting April 19, 2017. The funds are allocated $9M for Residential and $6M for Commercial.”
The current rebate offered from CPS is $3,000 if locally made, Mission solar panels are installed, or $2,500 if any other solar panel brands installed.
Coupled with a Federal Tax Credit of 30%, this rebate makes San Antonio one of the best places in the country to go solar.
The most important limitation CPS made on the rebate program is that you must use a registered solar installation company to do the home solar installation and apply for the rebate.
Also, CPS is incentivizing the use of a local solar installation company by only making the full rebate available to a local installation company. Out of town or non-local companies will only qualify for 75% of the rebate.
Solar Electric Texas is registered with CPS as a local solar installation company, so we are able to help you get 100% of the CPS rebates available.
